Fairly Freudian Friday Random Ten

I just watched Hitch's Rope, which I'd never seen all the way through before. Good crime movie, fairly lean. There's a scene at the beginning where the two not-at-all-gay-killers have just murdered their friend David. John Dall's character looks especially ecstatic, and he lights up a cigarette. I think most people back then got the subtext, they ust thought they were the only ones who did.

1. Nellie McKay - Pink Chandelier
2. Dave van Ronk - He Was a Friend of Mine
3. New Pornographers - Brill Bruisers
4. Sarah Vaughan - Sermonette
5. Morphine - Radar
6. The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
7. Lower Dens - Quo Vadis
8. The Ramones - Pinhead
9. Beth Custer and Joe Goode Performance Group - You Are Song
10. Les Baxter - Quiet Village

It's been a long time since I last saw it but I do remember 'Rope' as one of Hitchcock's more exceptional movies. He was very good at setting up claustrophobic situations.

Nice FR10.. at least the ones I know fairly well. Nellie McKay followed by Dave van Ronk is an interesting juxtaposition.

It's a damnably clever movie, and the feeling of being constantly in motion, even in such a limited space, is quite powerful.

Those are both good songs but yes, very different.
