Charges

Earlier this evening the Internet seems to have gone down a couple of times. This is more interesting than annoying, and I'll expound on why. It seems to have been - in my admittedly inexpert opinion - caused by a power surge.

We didn't invent electricity. We did harness it. But it's a natural force. And sometimes it's cool to see it doing its own thing, acting as a natural force does.

You're right in saying we don't have electricity as contained as many would like to think. A few years ago I happened across a fascinating website called 'The Thunderbolts Project' whose scientists hypothesize that our universe is driven by electricity rather than gravity. I don't have enough background in physics or electrical engineering to say whether they're correct but they do make some very good points.

Here's a short but entertaining (and very pretty) little video for your entertainment.

We have our electronic devices plugged into surge protectors because you never know.

The question of whether gravity or electricity is the driving force in the universe is a little over my head as well, at least in determining if it's true. But it does seem to me like it would make a difference as far as what we can expect in the future goes. (For a certain value of "expect." These events are likely to happen outside all our lifetimes.)

That's a colorful video, certainly. I wondered what sort of person was narrating? A professor or some other scientist?

Surge protectors are always a good idea, even if there hasn't been a surge in some time.
