Mose

Well, it's not great that my first post in a few days - due to a cold and some other stuff - is another in memoriam for a great musician who's left us. But there it is.

Mose Allison, late of Mississippi, is no more. But there's still the music, and that voice. Those make the world a brighter place, still.

Colds are no fun at all so I hope you're feeling better now.

Despite the fact we haven't listened to his more recent music it's sad to hear Mose has moved on. Unfortunately your video (and a number of others on youtube) have been cancelled since you posted this. I don't know why they do that but this isn't the first time.

You might enjoy reading this nice memorial I found on Counterpunch.

The cold has moved on. I still have a little bit of a cough, but that's just an annoyance.

The video is still up, for me at least. I don't know, maybe there are legal issues with allowing it to be played in Canada. That seems silly, but at the very least there are discrepancies between what YouTube can show here and in Europe.

That was a very nice memorial, perceptive and warm. "The Mark Twin of Jazz." Hadn't thought of it before, but it fits.
