I seem to remember that the author of this piece had a beat writing about how the political establishment was screwing over Donald Trump. Which given current events many sane people could get onboard with. I guess that one's no fun anymore, then.

Got 'em just where we want 'em
Wow. What can I say? If you actually believe that Palestinians in Gaza getting slaughtered is some kind of play for world domination―and a successful one at that―you need to be kept away from cutlery, heavy machinery, and any active role in caring for...anything really. Of course the obvious attitude is that only the suffering of one side matters, for only one people actually exists.

The Tablet article was the most over-the-top insanely bizarre piece of propaganda either of us has read these past two months. Two months! That they've deliberately blown up (with placed charges) a university where there was no possibility of even one Hamas fighter being present. They've deliberately destroyed convents, churches, mosques, hospitals and entire neighborhoods. They even slaughtered their own populations on Oct. 7th. You're right there is no excuse whatsoever.
Eric Boehm's take on the Colorado Court decision is also very weird, for example: "the former president is manifestly unfit for office". Does that mean the present occupant is fit? Spare me. Trump hasn't been charged or convicted of a crime. We're waiting to hear from the Supreme Court in the fullness of time - and since they're busy it will take a while.
Yeah, it's hard to even know what to say. The author obviously has something pretty huge going on in his head. He's just going to keep writing about that, instead of dealing with what's actually happening. In that way it's a tight fit with American foreign policy, which is so often made by people divorced from and ignorant of the effects their plans have on the people they impact.
As I recall I read two Reason op-eds on the Colorado court decision around the time it happens. The one I linked to is the better one. The other actually approved of the decision. You'd think a libertarian magazine would take a firm stand against voters having their choice taken away, but maybe I shouldn't expect that at all. Eugene Debs actually ran for President from prison in 1920, as is proper.
