Felt bad

It recently came to my attention while watching Evil (which I like so far), that the Muppets are appearing in ads for some-or-another new toy from Facebook. In fact these ads are the only time for now anyone is going to see them on a regular basis. This does not make me happy. I doubt very much it would make Jim Henson happy. If he's in a good place now I imagine their trying to keep it from him. Or failing that, keep his mind off of it.

Since the Evil series is on network tv it's not a show we can check out yet. Knowing you like it we'll keep a lookout for it to appear on Netflix.

I'm sure you're right about Jim Henson not being pleased about his beloved Muppets making commercials. The weird thing about the Disney company doing this is, as I'm sure you know, that they've never allowed any of their iconic characters to be used in any fashion by anyone. As Jer said, if they can do this don't be surprised if you see Spiderman or the Fantastic Four making ads. Although it would be kind of funny if they allowed Alien to advertise soft drinks.

Honestly I won't make any promises about whether you'll like it or not. It does tickle my interest.

Good point about Disney's own classic characters not being used for ads. Obviously Mickey and Donald are commodities they own, and could do with as they will. At the same time, it also shows that they understand the principle that the characters might be cheapened through overuse. With properties they acquire they know this but don't care as much.

Alien for soft drink spots? Could happen. The most effective would be John Hurt's character from the first movie surviving the chestburster scene and enjoying a coke with his new little friend. They just have to deepfake it.
