Thanksgiving week tends to be an effectively short one, maybe even down to two days. That is, a lot of us work or "work" up until Wednesday, but Wednesday is pretty chill, without even much pressure to look busy. It's nice.
Then there's people who work in supermarkets, in which case forget everything I just said.

Thanksgiving was always one of my more favorite holidays in the US - no presents to give or receive, good food, the Macy's Parade and usually the following day as a day off. I guess there were football games too but since I was never interested in them they didn't occur to me immediately.
Canadian Thanksgiving always seems to happen too early in the fall to be taken very seriously - always the second Monday in October so there's no extra day off and after so many years in the US I always associate the date with Columbus Day (and Jer's birthday, natch).
You're right about the staff of grocery stores being under a lot of pressure around the major holidays.
I hope you've enjoyed the day among friends.
People start to take football seriously at that point in the year. A lot do, at least. The friends I was with on Thanksgiving aren't really sports people. And yes, it was a very good time.
I don't know what the story is behind Canadian Thanksgiving being in October. Like, it could be just an attempt to draw distinctions with the US. Or maybe it's earlier because in (some parts of) Canada winter comes early.
As long as grocery clerks get their own time to unwind, which I hope.
