A song from 2019

The song of the year? Who knows? It got some play on what's left of alternative radio. But it'll stick with me. I appreciate the way that while it was always going to end up as a storm of psychedelic guitars, it plays coy getting there.

The song is very nice but what really mesmerized me was the tenderness between the woman and the horse in the lovely video. In fact, the first time I watched it I found myself not paying much attention to the music. I was glad to see the horse had no bit in his mouth but disappointed to note spurs.

Now I've listed to the song again and found it okay but I'd have a hard time describing it as genuinely thrilling.

I'd have a hard time articulating what I like about the song, although the lyrics/vocal being pitched somewhere between resignation and euphoria helps. Sometimes things just grab you on an unconscious level.

That's a beautiful horse and, spurs aside, the lady trainer seems to love it. It seems like horses were more a part of everyday life during this country's frontier period. Nice if true, although I wasn't there and could be mistaken.
