April is the cruelest month etc

Spring is a time when young people come out of their shells, and do so en masse. Which means they start partying, so you're walking along or you're at home and you all of a sudden hear them. It's a more abrupt change than the one into summer. During summer school is out - for most at least - but it's already been warm for a while.

And indeed more power to them. I do find that the hibernating months seem more "me" though.

What with living in an area heavily populated by students we've noticed something of that too. However, the noisiest time of year around here is when the crowds return after the summer break. Then it all stops once it gets too cold to be outside for long.

I can understand the hibernating months are more 'you'.

That's true. Students show up with a lot of nervous energy. This is probably truest of freshmen, although I don't know how many of them you have among your neighbors.

Yes, it's hard to put into words, but I think you do understand.
