2 animal matters

The topic of breed specific legislation (BSL) seems to come up a few times per year. Pit bulls are generally the target, and they're already banned in a few places. Up for debate, I guess. In my experience they're not the dogs with the shortest fuses. They just have strong jaws. There might be a few different ways of dealing with that.

Anyway, this is a clip of deer standing around, then running. I found it soothing.

I agree these laws end up being useless by needlessly focusing on breed when the truth is that any dog can bite. It's usually irresponsible owners that are at fault.

I liked the deer video, especially seeing them in an open setting. The ones around here are black tailed deer and they are ubiquitous. While it's kind of amusing to see them in gardens and crossing busy streets, it's understandable what a danger they can be. They really aren't very bright.

That's the thing. I'm sure there are some unfortunate surprises in keeping a dog, but the stats for pit bulls really must be amped up by their being considered a hoodlum status symbol.

Black tailed deer have a fairly grand look to them. I mean, it's only the males who have antlers, but the does catch your eye as well. Not too surprising that they aren't that smart. "Huddle together to discourage predators" is usually the only plan they need.
