Providence is just a biggish city, not an enormous one. Still, we do see things here.
The other day I was downtown (no one says "downcity.") There was a lady at the bus stop. She was pushing a wheelchair. The seat of the wheelchair was filled by a Minions plushie doll. She was yelling and swearing at the MInions doll.
Should I have talked to herr? I don't know.

Did you ever read 'The Children of Men' by P.D.James? It opens at a time in England when no babies have been born anywhere on earth in twenty years and a number of women walk around pushing baby carriages containing dolls. It's a bizarre image. Of course, since moving here we've seen more than a few women pushing baby strollers with dogs inside - some with dumbfounded looking cats behind screens.
I didn't know what a Minions doll was until just now. I may have been better off that way. Probably just as well you didn't engage her in conversation.
