I heard a woman say today that she'd heard we were going to get three inches of snow tonight. Looking out the window and not seeing it. Oh, there are a few hours left in the nighttime, sure, and it's possible that we could get something. But something that's going to require the presence of snow plows? Doubt it highly. Sounds like the weatherman is having fun with his listeners.

We eventually came to the conclusion that weather forecasting was being done either by people who never went outside (or had access to windows) or by those who lived somewhere else entirely.
Of course it's also possible the woman you heard saying there'd be snow is one of those still traumatized by the Blizzard of '78. I still remember people leaving work early to buy all the bread and milk they could carry whenever there was a suggestion of a snowfall.
Considering how many radio stations beam in canned voice-overs to chat between records that were selected by an out-of-state programmer, your theory holds a fair amount of water.
I don't know if this woman is old enough to remember the Blizzard of '78. She looks younger than me. Then again it was a big enough disruption to be remembered by people who weren't there.
