Vince on the keys

Vince Guaraldi's music from A Charlie Brown Christmas and other things was a comforting element of my childhood and has stayed with me. I think there are a lot of us of whom that could be truthfully said.

This piece isn't Christmas-related. It's not from one of the Peanuts specials either. It does seem to scratch that itch, though.

This was such a nice find for Christmas Eve. Vince Guaraldi was a musical genius who died far too soon. It's interesting to know that the producer of A Charlie Brown Christmas on hearing Cast Your Fate to The Wind on the radio searched him out to write the score. It's hard to imagine a better combination.

I've heard "Cast Your Fate to the Wind" numerous times, and I've enjoyed it each time. I hadn't known, though, that it predated his involvement with the Peanuts specials, much less that it was behind him getting hired for them. It shows a good instinct on the producers' part. And yes, he really did leave us too soon.
