I talked to a waitress today, who's also part owner of the place. Another waitress, to whom she's related, had to take the day off. Her son's sick. He's in kindergarten. I guess anything you can catch you pretty much will. Kids are great vectors.
Anyway, I gave the family my best wishes. Generally this stuff goes away after a few days, but it's a tsuris for the parents.

You're right about kids being terrific vectors for illnesses. Most of us who are officially elderly went through all the common childhood diseases* before vaccinations became standard - the first for us being the Salk vaccine for polio in the 50s.
*I was very surprised to come down with chickenpox in my forties. I thought I'd had that one too.
Hopefully her little boy will be okay soon. Kids are always worth worrying about.
It's hard to imagine how much of a relief the Salk vaccine must have been back when it came out. Well, hard for us. Perhaps not for people in some other parts of the world.
I know that I've had chicken pox, sometime in preadolescence. The memory is pretty vivid.
They're nice people, so I'm pretty sure the kid's in good hands.
