Happy Hump Day

Camels are creatures that might look and could be ungainly in certain contexts, but they are entirely well adapted to where they are. They might also be amusing companions. Some very definitely seem curious at least.

I always thought it pretty neat they're known as ships of the desert because that's what they've been for people for a very long time. They can eat almost anything, go for long periods without water, bear heavy weights, and their feet splay out so they don't sink into the sand. They are known to be sweet animals to those who look after them and likely curious too.. :)

"Ships of the desert" is a nice figure of speech. And there's a kind of symbiosis there. With the large deserts in Africa and Asia they've made big parts of the world habitable for people that otherwise wouldn't be. And yes, they do seem to have a kindly disposition, at least once you've broken the metaphorical ice with them.
