Surprises

Watched an old Veronica Mars tonight. Having to do with the theft of Troy's car and some steroids another guy had stashed away in it. Quite good.

And I thought Troy was such a nice guy. Well, actually I thought he was a complete and utter simpleton, but the harmless kind. Guess you shouldn't assume.

yeah, ol' troy really had both of us going, as well. so charming. very glad you're enjoying veronica's adventures. not someone you'd wanna mess with (especially when accompanied by backup)...

we just finished watching the third season of 'bron / broen', aka 'the bridge', a swedish/danish co-production that premiered in 2011, & has already spawned american & british versions. it's about a swedish & a danish detective working together on (ridiculously overly-elaborate) cases that span the bord3er between the 2 countries, with the female swedish detective, saga, displaying some not-so-traditional personality traits...

while we've found the story writing to be often extraordinarily bogus, peppered with unlikely coincidences & missing pieces, & often almost perversely dark/sadistic, we've both really enjoy the character writing, particularly when it comes to saga, who is just fantastic...

enjoyable enough, tho not as much fun as hanging out in neptune :) ...

I am enjoying - and you could say "marveling at" - the juggling act that the show pulled off on a weekly basis. Keith Mars chases after dangerous criminals, mostly but not entirely off-screen. The cases that Veronica herself takes on are lighter, almost worthy of Encyclopedia Brown, although challenging as well. Then there's that huge mountain of trauma sitting there, hidden in plain sight. It's a rich mixture.

Broen looks arresting - sorry - and I'll have to take a closer and longer look. I've read that Saga is often seen as a representative of autistic/Asperger's people on television. What's striking is that I only found that out after watching the clip you linked to, but I picked up on it right away. Her lieutenant appears to be an interesting gentleman as well.
