I don't really speak French, so I can't say what the song is saying. (Could sort of guess.) The short film is pretty cool, though. I like how the figures show their papier-mache roots through the newsprint on their skin.

You're right it seems to be a simple enough story not to need translation. It's very cleverly done and I like the music.
ps: Do you have a copy of your birth certificate?
Sort of zydeco music. Yeah, I like it too.
And I've held onto the wallet with my birth certificate in it.
