Card night

Card night - rummy 500 - was on again tonight.  Last week it was off because of the Superbowl.  The three of us got together again tonight, though, played cards, talked about this and that.  Including Philip Seymour Hoffman, whom I haven't done a blog post about yet but you never know.

One of my friends suggested a new place for us to meet.  It's a little Moroccan cafe on a street that doesn't really have a lot of businesses on it.  It's a nice place.  The guy working the counter was very friendly, very hospitable, and he seems to be co-ownder as well.  And they serve a tasty hot chocolate.

Like the guys who write into Penthouse Forum say, I had to tell someone.

Although we've seen him in a few others, the one movie I really remember Phillip Seymour Hoffman for was the excellent and strange little movie Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. If you haven't seen it already I think you'd probably enjoy it too.

It's nice to know you play cards with friends regularly and good you found such a neat out of the way cafe for a game. The making of good hot chocolate is an art.

ps: Did you get a book in the mail?

What was the book? It might be necessary to get on one post office or the other about this.

"Capote" I liked a lot. And while "Synecdoche, New York" could be kind of rough going, it's a movie I can't shake. And his weird villain in Punch Drunk Love was great too.

Indeed good hot chocolate is an art. And I like the chance to spout off with a few cards in my hand.
