Snow show

The blizzard we got on Tuesday felt something like the Main Event. Just about everything was closed. I did go out for a bit, but not entirely without regret. The thing is, if your insulated boots don't keep the water out, the insulation doesn't do you a hell of a lot of good. And walking through deep slushy snow, nobody's boots are waterproof.

Today the temperature dropped, below freezing most of the day. That meant that the snow solidified, so it wasn't as likely to get your feet wet. You just have to watch out for those treacherous shiny bits on the sidewalk.

At last snow has arrived in Providence and, since it's getting rather late in the season, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't stay long. I hate having cold wet feet almost as much as I despise slipping on previously unseen ice. Try to stay warm and dry until spring comes.

In the meantime maybe you'd like to spend a few minutes watching the Koi dance at this year's Chinese New Year celebration in Beijing. It's a remarkable performance.

It can be a little weird the way these things develop. We had snow hanging around for a while. Then it warmed up and the last of the snow got swept away by a steaming rain. Then it immediately got cold again. But it's all good. It gives us a time to contemplate the forms of things.

Thanks for hipping me up to the Koi dance. I saw a few points where a dancer or two would twirl while suspended in the air on a wire. Impressive.
