I hesitated before posting this because I thought I might have already done so. Combing through the archives, it seems that I have not done so. Which is hard to believe. Four teens playing one of the highlights from The Nutcracker on marimbas? What's not to like?

That was wonderful. It's always such a treat to see young people taking music seriously enough that they get good at playing their instrument.. and a nice choice too.
Here's the twitter page for Buitengebieden I said I'd send. I have no idea what will be there in the morning but his photos and videos are often fun - like that opening one.
When I saw this post again I felt the need to re-listen to the tune as played by these four youths. It really is beautiful, and can bring your spirits up. Gustav Mahler said, "Tradition is not the worship of ashes but the preservation of fire."
The Buitengebieden account seems to be very popular, and no wonder. There's currently a video near the top of a girl peeling an apple while an alpaca (I think) eats the peel.
