In circles

Sigh. In a way I regret even exposing you to this. But apparently there's still a kerfuffle to be had over whether Susan Sarandon helped to elect Trump.

I mean, first of all, she probably didn't have that much of an effect, despite her high visibility. And also, it's 2021, so who cares? If Trump being President was the root of our problems then one would expect the quality of life to improve once he no longer was. Did I miss that part?

Anyway, just goes to show you that there's a big difference between talk and productive talk.

EDIT: Decided to sweeten this post with my belated hat-tip to Stephen Sondheim.

The good news is you didn't expose me to anything unpleasant for the simple reason neither of us has FB. That settled that.

I'm pretty sure Susan Sarandon has been an activist for many years - anti-war, civil rights, environmentalism, UNICEF, economic justice and other humanitarian causes. She may well have supported Donald Trump when he ran for the presidency but only because she knew Hillary Clinton's unsavory history. I guess we all missed the part where things got better once they'd got rid of Trump.

How sweet to see Stehen Sondheim as foil for Angela Lansbury. Sweeney Todd was great and so was Into the Woods that I remember we watched on PBS when we lived in Pawtuxet Village. He had a remarkable career and it can truly be said we'll never see his like again.

Hm. The article was on a site called We Got This Covered. I don't usually go there so I don't know if it's affiliated with FB. Strange.

The UNICEF work, if nothing else, should buy her some goodwill. From what I recall she didn't support Trump but rather the Green candidate Jill Stein. There are third party candidates every election and they can have a slight influence in favor of either of the major parties. Everyone blames them when it's convenient to do so. Anyway, you have to deal with things as they are.

He was brilliant as a composer and in coming up with concepts for shows. It's amazing the weird things he came up with and turned into entertainment. Lansbury is definitely magnetic, including when she plays the villain. Case in point: The Manchurian Candidate.
