Don't blow your top

I bought a new winter hat today. It's gotten to that part of the year where if your hat doesn't cover your ears, you'll be in for a fair amount of discomfort at minimum. The place where I got it sells stuff that the factories may have overproduced, so their prices are a lot lower than you'd expect. This hat is from a relative luxury brand, but only cost a few bucks. It also had a label on it, which I cut off when I got home. Just looked wrong.

Wearing a good hat in cold weather is something I feel is essential. Every so often, and not all that infrequently, is seeing young parents out with a baby when they're both wearing hats but the infant's head is bare. It's the one time I ever feel like telling them we lose more body heat through our heads than anywhere else. So far I've managed to keep quiet. I'm glad you got a good one and I agree that wearing a label is like offering the company ad space they don't need.

Oh yeah, you definitely need to cover babies up when it gets cold. When they're older they can decide for themselves whether or not they want to brave the elements. For myself I don't mind when it's just coolish, but it's a different story when winter really hits. Of course it's also hard to get into conversations like that with people you don't know, so I don't know that I'd ever say anything. And yeah, a hat is too prominent for designer labels. I'll leave them on jeans, in part because some pairs start to fall apart when you cut anything off like that.
