50/50

Exchanged a few words with a girl today while waiting for the bus. She said when she'd left the house it was warm, so she figured she didn't need a coat. But by the time we were out there it was much cooler. So she was regretting being out with just a sweater over her shirt. I said it can be tricky this time of year, which is true. It can also be inconvenient to be wearing a substantial coat or jacket and suddenly realize you don't need it.

It's pretty much the same thing here in that the temperatures can go from 35℉ to 60℉ over the course of the day. It also depends a lot on where you're standing, doesn't it? You're right that it's a tricky guess as to what you might need to carry with you.

Things continue to be very volatile in that sense. It's not unusual now to wake up to find the radiator still going, then go out and have it be too warm for a jacket within a couple of hours. Of course these are the last days of even having heating oil until autumn. There'll be no heat on a freakishly cold day in mid-May.
