Feets don't fail me now

Finally bought a new pair of boots on Monday. The ones I'd been wearing were in pretty ratty shape, so it was definitely time. Would have been nice if I could get a pair without laces, but for some reason those seem to be reserved for men with smaller feet, and women. Still, nice to have my feet a little warmer in these months.

Hopefully will have time for more thinkpiece-y posts in a few days.

Warm boots and a good hat make all the difference to staying comfortable on a cold day - notwithstanding the coat and gloves, naturally.

We've been hit by some unusually (for here) serious below freezing cold the past 24 hours or so making for some sad hummingbirds wondering why they can't get any sustenance from the icy feeder. We've tried swapping out good ones but then they don't come back in time. To top it off now it's snowing. At least that will be something for the snowdrops and crocuses to peek through when it stops.

Ah, winter..

Those are all good things. The coat I bought last year has kept me pretty warm. A lot of time I find it inconvenient to wear gloves, but I probably should have, since the wind has given me a case of dried knuckles on one hand.

Yeah, you've mentioned that the winter has been harsher there than usual this month. I guess even the mildest climates can spring a surprise on you. Of course speaking of spring, it's nearing. In the meantime some of your hummingbirds seem likely to enter torpor, which might be their best bet.
