I saw some daytime chat show today. They were talking about this new product. It's a jewelry box for an engagement ring that's also a phone box. That way your phone comes out when your proposing so you can immediately post video on social media. So to sum up, the world makes less and less sense to me by day. First of all, what if she says no? Second of all, is there no such thing as a private moment now? Third, the first two combined.
To be fair, one of the hostesses also seemed less than dazzled with the idea.

You certainly did find an egregious example of our very wasteful and self-destructive behaviour. Things were bad enough before but the current addiction to social media fads has exacerbated the problems enormously.
I began reading the Archdruid Report around the same time I began blogging. He's since abandoned that site (to my great disappointment) but opened another one a few months ago. This post, if you have the time to read it, provides some insight in regard to the world making less sense day by day.
It's good to know someone on that show wasn't thrilled with the idea.
It's not just social media, though. The problem runs deeper. So many of us are blind not just to nature but to most of culture. The same aspects of culture get underlined and heightened so much nothing else seems to exist. Or maybe it's just me.
Bloggers do often move on or just lose interest/time/what have you. I'm glad the guy behind the Archdruid Report at least has resurfaced with something new. You didn't actually include a link, though.
Yeah, it's important to note when there's some dissent within the system.
I thought the link I'd made to 'Ecosophia (the website) - A Field Guide to Thoughtstoppers' was done. Sorry about that. John Michael Greer writes some very relevant commentary about our current culture.
