Traces of summer

Generally I've been wearing shorts at home at night. Regardless of what the day's been like, or whether it's cooled off outside by nighttime, it tends to be quite warm in the apartment. I'm sure it's like this for a lot of other people too, and that it drives kids crazy they're back in school when they can hardly tell it's fall.

You're right that it does stay warmer inside once the sun has set - at least for a while. I haven't worn shorts in many years but I get your point about them being more comfortable. I prefer wearing skirts at home and trousers when I'm out, and all must have pockets.

A lot of the kids around here can be found participating in field day exercises at the park. I guess the idea is that they can run off some excess energy while bonding for the new school year.

Traditional women's garments do seem to me somewhat lacking in the pockets department. I guess to sell handbags, or some such. Anyway, you want to keep things handy, no matter what time of year it is.

The field day exercises seem like they might be a good idea as a way for kids to expend the excess energy. Also the park is a more forgiving venue than a gymnasium, which feels like it can put you on the spot.
