That's how they getcha

You know those sad lost souls who combine the old bar of soap in the shower with the new one so they never have to throw out soap? Well I'm one of them. It just always drove me crazy to see soap dwindle down to a little sliver that either got thrown out or went down the drain. Hence the grafting.

The problem is that the manufacturers seem to have changed the formula. Now whether it's wet or dry soap just doesn't adhere to another bar of soap. I really doubt this is accidental. These people might force me to try body wash.

We used to drive past a business that was called 'The Soap Recycler' that made us wonder what was involved and who exactly went there. I guess it turns out that soap recycling is a real thing. Since lots of people hate wasting the stuff, apparently there are youtube videos about various methods. Any that involve using a microwave or cooking on the stove look to not be worth the effort. I did like the suggestion about putting the bits in an old sock that you tie tightly and use as a wash cloth but you can check out the options if you want.

We've been soap savers too but luckily for us we can buy Pears Soap - it's made in an oval with a slight hollow on either face, just right for fitting the old bar into the new.

Yeah, not sure what the Soap Recycler was about. I thought I'd found their website when we talked before but it's not showing up now. Like you say, the stovetop and microwave methods seem like they'd be more trouble than they're worth, especially because the pot you use might be useless for cooking food from then on. The sock thing is interesting. If nothing else it gets a little more use out of mateless socks.

I remember Pear's soap. It had a nice smell. Yeah, maybe I should try looking at a different brand.
