Just what we all wanted

Political discourse is no more real than old wrestling promos. The only difference is the “marks” aren’t wise to it. Liz Cheney can swear for years that Kamala the Radical Liberal will destroy the country, before turning babyface in order to team up with her against The Orange Miscreant at the next pay-per-view. Digby can spend several years telling us that Dick Cheney was the original election thief and a sociopath who orchestrated a phony war for the benefit of Halliburton stock prices, before gladly accepting this sociopath’s help to “protect democracy” from “fascism.” Words mean nothing, convictions mean nothing. It’s all bullshit. I’d rather watch old videos of Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes screaming at each other. At least they were entertaining.

That's from this blog post, which presents a paper trail of what Liz Cheney has said about Kamala Harris over the years. What Niemand doesn't really go into is that Cheney never really wowed 'em as a conservative politician and was easily thrown over by voters in her own party. Despite the family name, although maybe "despite" isn't the right word. Yet her support is supposed to be a game changer.

It's really hard to see why Harris is up there most of the time, and what Tim Walz is supposed to be bringing to the party. While there's inevitably another teapot tempest I doubt Trump is very worried.

When you’ve got a leading presidential candidate standing in front of the nation saying that yes she will continue an active genocide but you’d better vote for her anyway if you want abortions and affordable groceries, it shows people something about the kind of nation they live in that you could never get across to them by argument.

When you’ve got evidence of mass atrocities entering people’s social media feeds on a daily basis while the entire political-media class tells them this is fine and normal, that communicates a message which would be hard to receive in words alone.

There is so very, very little to say about this horror that is remotely positive. But it is opening eyes. And enough open eyes is all that’s required to stop this.

Unfortunately, this is something Trump is unlikely to stop but maybe there's a chance. maybe... despite the widow Adelson.

You got me about Tim Walz. The Babylon Bee doesn't have to make any effort at all when it comes to him. (I have nothing to say about either Dick or Liz Cheney..)

Caitlin Johnstone has been very alert in pointing out the dangers posed by American empire. For quite some time, too, and she can't be accused of favoring one party over another.

Most of Trump's foreign policy picks have been fairly dismal, and we can only be comforted by the knowledge that Anthony Blinken and Linda Thomas-Greenfield weren't any better. Still, Miriam appears to have gotten what she wanted on that front. On the other hand, Matt Gaetz as Attorney General might actually have promise. He's got a fresh perspective.

I got a giggle out of "One small step for Tim, one giant leap for Timkind." It's a pretty good fit.

It's quite possible that you have nothing to say about the Cheneys because it's all been said before. And for good reason.

Good for John Liu. Every little bit helps.
