Repetition

It's been raining all day. Earlier tonight there was a car outside whose alarm kept going off. One of those alarms that sound like someone's leaning on the horn once every second. The rain was setting it off. The owner would keep resetting it so it went off again.

I've long questioned the utility of car alarms. There are so many false positives, I can't be the only one who ignores them, or tries to. Automated boys who cry "Wolf!"

It's been known to happen that neighbors have reacted with violence to cars whose alarms won't stop. I remember years ago reading a description of a parked car in NYC that had been totally destroyed by a seriously aggravated public. I guess your neighbors on Doyle are more tolerant.

A few days after we first got Fuchsia a windstorm set off her alarm. We didn't know she had one until then. Five minutes later Jer had disconnected it for good and all.

Not many people have them activated these days. It's considered rude.

Either they're more tolerant or they wear earplugs at night. I'm sort of lucky in that by the time I bed down for the night the rigmarole is generally over. But I can't say I judge that crowd in New York too harshly.

It was good of you to disarm Fuchsia's alarm. Because of course that's what happens. They're hypersensitive to the point of absurdity.

Probably were more activated 30 years ago. I remember some incidents in the college dorm parking lot.
