I have, on a couple of occasions at least, caught sight of moose in the wild. Just browsing in a green area. I know I've never seen one running up close. It's hard to think of an animal that looks more unhurried. They can certainly book it when they want to or have to, though.

The moose grazing in a Utah forest was lovely but the running moose was pretty cool too. Personally, I've never seen one so you've been very lucky.

I recall Neese telling us about the moose that was hanging around their neighborhood in Nelson. One afternoon when she'd left the kitchen door open the moose happened by and must have tilted his head as he peeked inside. Unfortunately, he got stuck and it was only after Neese yelled that Gary wrestled him and his antlers back out the door.

They were only brief looks, while I was in one or another passenger seat of a car. Still, you're right, I do feel lucky. The wonders of forested areas.

Wow, living in Nelson must really be something. Yeah, a moose is likely to get stuck. Most doorways weren't made for them and their antlers. Which does at least mean that you're less likely to have to shoo one out of your kitchen.
