Thanks but no thanks

If you're a Democratic candidate looking to distinguish yourself from the current leadership, there are certainly good ways to go about it. But going all in on AI and crypto? Not the way to go about it, at least not for me.

Phillips is basically giving voters the standard Democratic platform, only creepier and more transhumanist. Not surprisingly, it also opens up new ways to curry favor with plutocrats. So while Biden has had it and the party's efforts to protect him from a free election are a little hinky, there are no saviors here.

So that's your lot, Dean.bot. Ah well, that particular experiment in using AI didn't work out too well but not for want of trying. Here they have a reasonably personable looking young politician who's willing to take orders from the tech bros. What's not to like?

No, it won't work for Mr Phillips, at least not this time but things are looking dismal for the future of any kind of election fairness in the future. Matt Taibbi posted a most remarkable article on his Racket News site titled Is the Election Fix Already In? Despite it's being a long read we both recommend you take some time to scan through it. Interestingly, the Transition Integrity Project was instituted by Rosa Books, Barbara Ehrenreich's daughter.

We know the Dems hate Trump but it's shocking they're more than ready to destroy the laws of the republic to punish the man forever. Anybody would think he'd never been president in the first place.

I've seen a lot of politicians come along whose manner has been a bit on the robotic side but it's rare that you see someone so eager to embrace the label. Maybe that's the future, although I hope not. Tech bros throwing around money to convince dubious officials is the present, of course.

There's certainly an attempt to fix things. We may soon miss the days when elections had been all about fooling the public rather than bypassing them outright. Although the two states who've banned Trump from the ballot are getting pushback from the Supreme Court. Even Biden's appointee Ketanji Brown Jackson seems like she might be unconvinced. As for Rosa Brooks, it's a sad fact that people don't always pick up on the wisdom of their parents.

They're willing to do anything to stop Trump but have no moral--or really any kind of--superiority over him. Wonder if they'll actually succeed in throwing Biden overboard.
