Lookout

Just looking out the window at night can be a centering activity. Maybe there's very little to see. After a certain point at night you won't see much of anyone on the street. Well, probably not. But while hustle and bustle can be fun to watch, it's not everything. Trees, the shadows of trees. Lights in the distance. There is beauty in things just being there.

I tend to go to bed later myself so I understand absorbing the quiet of nighttime from the security of a spot by a window when all is at peace. Reality leaves a lot to the imgination.

It does indeed. The way that reality differs from our ideas about it can lead to disappointment, but it can also be wondrous. Anyway, I like the spareness of the night. It's contemplative.
