Tuxedos

Maybe my mind is just wandering to places that are less muggy, especially around this time of year. New Zealand is deep into autumn at this point.

And the South Island has penguins, which is cool in a couple pf senses. The catch, of course, is that if you have a dog you definitely need to keep it leashed. There are always tradeoffs.

That was a most interesting piece about the penguins in New Zealand. I remember reading somewhere that the beaches the little blue penguins called home were open to the general public for a long time. As you won't be surprised to hear they were chased around, picked up, and cuddled to the point where they were seriously on the brink of extinction. Since the conservators managed to get control of those areas the penguin popuation might be improving.

The hot and muggy weather seems to have come along early this year. I hope you'll be more comfortable soon and feeling well too.

A petting zoo is a nice idea, and it can work given certain representatives of certain species under certain conditions. Nature, though, is not a petting zoo. Treating it as such can be harmful for both the animals and in some cases the humans involved. Some form of this sounds like it happened in New Zealand with the penguins. I'm glad that they seem to have things more in hand now.

The muggy weather turned out to be a preview. It's cooled down since then, although it's fluctuated. Last night I got to sleep without taking anything, although I may need to take cough medicine tonight. We'll see.
