Lamassu is a deity belonging to Assyrian mythology. As such the figure goes all the way back to the Bronze Age. Lamassu has the body of a beast, most often depicted as a bull. But with a human head. The deity appears to be involved with the afterlife.
Now the name "Lamassu" also refers to a "Bitcoin ATM", which is apparently something that exists. Such an honor.

It looks as though Lamassu was very well represented in antiquity. I guess the bitcoin atm people figures it gives them some otherwise undeserved class.
Having read a bit about the Lamassu ATMs, I haven't changed my mind that cryptocurrencies will never sound like anything other than a nightmare to me. The schemes of sophisticated scam artists haven't changed much since those guys who sold Florida swampland by the square inch. I think I have my bill of sale tucked away somewhere. Maybe I could trade it for a bitcoin or a bit of a bitcoin.
