splish!

Picture this. A young woman tears around the San Francisco Bay in a motorboat. When she's done she climbs out onto the pier to flirt with her boyfriend and then talk seriously with him. All this time she―including hair and clothes―is bone dry. And this makes sense, because when you look at the watery scene behind her, it's an obvious blue screen.

The movie I saw tonight wasn't at all bad. It was consistently entertaining, in fact. But there are numerous things you could goof on about it.

Not knowing what the movie was I can't offer an opinion but I get the idea about obvious tricks being used. We've always enjoyed Japanese monster movies, 1950s horror movies, and almost everything featured in the MST3K tv shows for just that reason.

After all, as Jer has said, there are far more bad movies than great ones so it's good to develop a taste for the weird and half-baked.

This movie, Portrait in Black, wasn't an el cheapo production, but it was kind of deranged. Which did add to the entertainment value.

There are different levels of badness. If the creators are into it then it's more fun to watch than if they're phoning it in.
