"Alabama Song" from The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahogany. The Doors doing a version of this song went a long way to convince me there was more to them than I had thought. The original is incredible too.
Kurt Weill's wife, Lotte Lenya was greatly admired by his then-collaborator Brecht as well. She was also a terrifying Bond villain in From Russia with Love.

This video was a very nice find and a surprise too. Lotte Lenya recorded 'Mack the Knife' with Louis Armstrong in 1956 - one of those non-video youtubes but it's fun to hear them both.
Yeah, it turned out she was the oldest person to portray a Bond villain. Quite a remarkable woman - at least as interesting as Marlene Dietrich.
Guess no one thought to bring a movie or TV camera to her session with Satchmo. It was a different world. But yeah, I'm very taken with that duet.
I've seen From Russia with Love. Even if you're not a big Bond fan she and Robert Shaw help make it worth watching. She was a different kind of performer from Marlene, or just about anyone.
