Field day

Which of these scenarios sound more credible to you?

A: Joe Biden, a man who turns 80 later this year and has been a politician his entire adult life, got through the 2020 election while hardly broaching trans issues at all. Then, once elected, he realized they were the most pressing issue of our times and staked out the leftmost position.

B: Biden has no clue. "Affirmative care" and "gender identity" are just syllables to him. But he knows he has to say them right to make big Dem donors happy.

Given the choice I'd put my money on B. These people are in customer service, except that only a narrow group of Americans form their customer base. Actual radicals in the administration are probably few and far between. But they have the advantage because they just have to work around empty suits.

I'd say 'B' is the only choice. I was reminded today of what Obama said about his VP some years ago: “you can’t underestimate Joe Biden's ability to fuck things up.” The trans issue is just one of a number of subjects he doesn't really grasp.

Not everyone aged 80 or over is senile but it's been pretty obvious for a long while that senility has added to his liabilities - as in his long history of lies and plagiarism. Combined with his tendency for making stuff up when talking about his past, Biden’s uncontrolled speech belies the image of the straight shooter that was crafted for him by the DNC and sold to voters.

The scary truth is that we don't actually know who the president is. He gets out there and spouts his inanities all right - we see that - but then his 'handlers' and the media cover for him. The press should not be in the business of making excuses for Joe Biden or credulously accepting every walk-back by administration officials (your empty suits). Maybe, just maybe, that's about to change. It is an election year, after all.

It would be okay if subjects he didn't know he just left alone. Obviously that's not what we're getting. But yeah, it's interesting and sometimes amusing the way presidents and vice presidents have a clear, warts & all view of each other. Not of themselves, though.

Certainly some people pass the age of 80 without losing their skills and focus. Past age 90 and 100 as well. Some of it is the luck of the draw. Some of it is just the luck of the draw. The basic point is that he's no longer at the top of his game, which wasn't all that elevated to begin with. And somebody knew that he wasn't when he was selected.)

We can be quite sure that Kamala isn't doing a Dick Cheney and running things from behind the scenes. Not that that would be much preferable. As for the press, pretty much all journalists of any reputation have proven themselves useless. The first step is ignoring them.
