Oak-ay

There are a fair number of oak trees around here. Some rather big ones as well. The tree can get to an amazing reach. Anyway, you see a lot of acorns. They don't germinate to become new trees, but you could change careers to keep them able to do that. Well, someone could.

At the risk of having you judge us mad we continue to visit our Animal Crossing towns twice a day every day. All the major stuff was done years ago but we water flowers, dig up fossils and zoids, and check on our permanent neighbors to make sure they don't move when we find them with their stuff packed (Alfonso still remembers his old enemy Ruddy from Gore). I only mention this now because last week was the annual Acorn Festival with the mayor dressed as Acornio giving out mushroom furniture for acorns - only the good ones, he keeps the lot if there's a rotten one in the bunch. Anyway, nowadays we leave them on the ground until the week is over and then we sell them to Nook. Unfortunately, they won't grow if you bury them. Just saying..

I don't blame you at all for sticking with the Animal Crossing game. I have very pleasant memories of playing it. It encourages a certain benevolent outlook.

The mayor is a wily old turtle, I remember. Well, maybe "wily" isn't the right word. The Southernism "cussed" works, as in "the cussedest thing." Anyway, you could get some pretty nice stuff by trading acorns. The threat of having them all taken away if there was a rotten one in the bunch was just part of it.
