Forward March April

Caught the Brown University marching band today. Maybe not their main marching band? Like these were goofy hipsters (and I mean that as a compliment) and I'm not sure they're the ones who play at football games. Their repertoire was what you could call eclectic. Notable numbers included "Rock Lobster", The Jacksons' "I Want You Back" and "Livin' on a Prayer". I thought their version of the song below was quite nice.

Not quite the USC Marching Band doing 'Tusk', but cool just for the fact of being right there in front of you, eh? I love live music still. We have a local celebrity who plays guitar and a pedal drum at the village square area in the off season and along the harbour walk during tourist time. He's really good as are some of the musicians who join him for jam sessions.

Meanwhile here's one of our favorite performances of recent years. Did you ever see the movie Leningrad Cowboys Do America? It was very funny.

It's nice to have street performers in your town, especially good/interesting ones. The guy you're describing in Victoria seems to be doing pretty well, at least as a side-hustle, if it's worth his while to hit the tourist traps.

That was a fun performance. I'd heard of the Leningrad Cowboys but didn't know much about them. They've got style, a certain sense of camp.
