Ever see a mouse run? It's quite a sight. Not only are they small, but their legs aren't even very long in proportion. Yet they can really book it. Seems to have something to do with their flexible spines.
Their coloring isn't exciting. If mouse isn't specially bred it's likely to be an undistinguished greyish brownish. But this is a great all-purpose camouflage.
Really their only weakness is that they seem compelled to live around humans. Not counting pet mice, this never ends happily.

Other than on a wheel in a cage I never have seen a mouse run - other than in movies, of course, when there's invariably someone who has to stand on a chair to scream 'Mouse!"
Hopefully, if you saw one in person (?) it was outside running rather than inside where you live. If it was the latter you might want to put all your food inside the refrigerator or into sealed plastic containers. If you see one mouse you can be sure there are more. Still, they're better than cockroaches.
Good luck. :)
They're cute as cartoons, although I'm not sure why Mickey Mouse creator Ub Iwerks rounded off the ears. They're decently cute as pets, although so are rats and rats are less aggressive toward humans. In the wild you don't want them anywhere near you.
There were one or two incidents. Right now I have a humane trap laid out. So far no action. If that continues I can breathe easy a little, although there might be some holes I need to plug up.
Ta very much. :)
