As it happens, most people wouldn't know who Warren Zevon was until the latter half of the seventies. (And beyond; I'm sure David Letterman's sincere adoration of the man helped.) But as it also happens, he was active well before that. He was half of the duo Lyme & Cybelle - guessing he was Lyme. This early bit of psychedelia from them is different from what you think of as a Zevon recording but he was always versatile.

It came from 1966

A chimey (?sp) song very reminiscent of it's time and most unlike the Zevon we came to know and love. The video was immediately recognizable to both of us as it's from probably one of the worst movies ever made by Michael Caine - The Italian Job, 1969. We liked the second one and decided to watch the original.. usually that isn't a mistake.
You can hear him in the harmonies, but yes, he's very well disguised?
One of Michael Caine's worst movies? That's saying something, as making bad movies for the money is something of a point of pride for Sir Michael. Looking at the trailer, it does seem to be something of a mess, the kind of bad movie they're still making with different trappings. But the part where his minion blows up a van and he says "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" did make me laugh.
