Green with...

Learning. Deals at the grocery store aren't always what they appear.

Say they sell bagged salads. There's an offer: buy one get one free. All well and good if you're a family and can consume both in a week. If not, check the sell-by date really well.  Not that it's a lot of money, but you do have food spoiling on your hands.

Actually if I had a still and was indifferent to taste, I might be able to get drunk off this.

Grocery store bargains can be very tricky when it comes to fresh produce that can't be frozen. It can be almost as difficult buying for just two - especially if you like having variety. There have been a number of times when I'd prefer half a cauliflower or not an entire bunch of broccoli.

The other thing you've probably noticed too is that the only way to save money at the grocery store is if you're well enough off to buy huge amounts of a product. Besides that, where is one supposed to store two dozen roll of toilet paper in a small apartment?

Some vegetables keep better than others. Celery's generally pretty good, although it loses some of its crispness while remaining edible. Full size carrots are quite hardy, while I find mini-carrots always start turning to much before I finish the bag.

A lot of deals are bulk related. I find this more at drug stores than groceries, to be honest. And yeah, storage does get to be an issue. A dozen rolls of toilet paper I can keep on the bathroom floor, but I don't know about two dozen.
