It is, natch, Independence Day. Which of course means fireworks. Fireworks you can see, that is. I've been up here away from the excitement but I've seen some of the displays.
Now as to fireworks you can just hear, they've been going on for a while. And probably will until sometime in autumn. Not sure exactly where, though.

We wondered why we didn't hear fireworks on Canada Day - maybe the breeze was blowing the wrong way? Then we heard them on Friday night. I have no idea what that was all about. We also hear the odd mysterious and distant ones that we can't account for at various times during the summer.
Nice to see a Beatles tune in the SR10. We watched Martin Scorsese's George Harrison documentary last week. It was excellent.
