Yappin' Saturday Random Ten

My downstairs neighbor has a little dog. A little territorial dog. If it hears me come in it will start barking its head off for the grave offense, I guess, of walking past the door in order to get to my own place. Of course the problem with territoriality in dogs - and not just dogs - is that they can judge their territory so broadly that there's never not a reason to fight. In this case it's mostly amusing, though.

1. They Might Be Giants - Judy Is Your Vietnam

2. R.E.M. - Auctioneer (Another Engine)

3. Joni Mitchell - Blue Motel Room

4. Scissor Sisters - Mary

5. Beck - Black Tambourine

6. Lambert, Hendricks and Ross - Bijou

7. Ladytron - Weekend

8. The Bird and the Bee - You're a Cad

9. Arcade Fire - Ready to Start

10. Nat King Cole - Tenderly

We've had the unpleasant experience of neighboring small dogs and what you say about yours seems true of them in general. They really do make horrible, ear piercing noises when they get going. The worst a recurring thing that happened outside our last Portland apartment where we overlooked a heavily wooded ravine. Some neighbor would loose their tiny dog at night and the damn thing ran around out there for hours some nights barking at everything. One evening Jer went out to look for it (so he could take it to the pound) and found half a dozen other neighbors carrying flashlights also looking for the small dog. They never did find it - but they did hear it, as did all of us.

Interesting SR10 again. I love that REM song (Boxcars is my favorite) and too, the Joni Mitchell one.

It's an unfortunate story about the neighbor letting their little dog run around barking at everything. Not good for the dog or anyone else. I can't help but chuckle at the thought of everyone out with their flashlights, though. It takes a village.

I do love the Joni Mitchell song too. Strange but relaxed.
