I just learned of this artist, Andrew Young, from an entry about him on Booooooom! I won't go off on any long tangents and make big claims, but I like what I see of his style. The texture reminds me a little of old masters and a little of old paperback covers. And his frinds certainly seem to be game models.

I just spent about 15 minutes checking out his work and technique at his blog. His work really is very good and not the least bit 'artful' or ponderous. It also appears he's having a good time.
That's something I respond to, the impression that the artist is having a good time. I think it gets the juices flowing.
