Summer pushes us into the deep end

I trust that when I post on the trusty blog again in a couple of days I'll have something more interesting to say than "It's hot." But for now, it's very, very hot. Hit 100F today, in fact.

One thing that changes for me when the mercury goes way up is the way I drink water. For much of the year I'll pour a glass of water and just let it sit for a while, because drinking it right away isn't necessary. Might even be painful in the winter. But on really hot days I'll probably down it right away.

That happened fast. All I can say is I hope it's cooled off by now. When the ambient heat is that close to my body temperature I'm good for nothing but lying in a tub of cool water. Speaking of water, if you drink more than a few glasses it's a good idea to add a pinch of salt for the electrolytes.

Anyway, we thought you might enjoy this - remind you of anybody you used to know?

We've had another heat wave this week, although a little milder. Very much the kind of days where you want to find shade. Interesting tip about adding a pinch of salt to water. I may try that soon.

That was a wonderful comedy bit. Yes, it did ring a bell. I wonder how much the head and the arms had to rehearse together.

I've started reading Cause for Alarm. So far so good. I'll have more thoughts when we speak next.
